What is Kallidus?

Kallidus is a Learning Management System (LMS) that allows us to deliver accessible and supportive online learning. This is the same system that we use to deliver and manage learning for our staff, so we know it works very well.

It will provide you with learning and guidance materials relevant to your role and once you are allocated an account and you have set up your log in details, you will be able to access the website at any time.

For further support once you have logged in, there is a course titled 'A volunteers guide to Kallidus' which is available from the All courses area under the catalogue titled 'Volunteer information' (you can type the course title into the search bar within Kallidus to find it). This gives you a brief overview of the different areas within Kallidus and how to use them.

You may find it useful to follow a video and pause after each section so you can action each step before moving onto the next one. A notepad and pen might come in handy too!

FAQs

Below are a group of FAQs, select the question to view the answer in a drop-down text box. If you have any further queries, please contact the support inbox listed above.

You can access Kallidus on a computer, tablet or mobile phone simply by navigating to Kallidus on your internet browser (e.g., Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge) and logging in with your account details. Your account details are initially sent to your email address, for you to update on your first log in.

Once you are on the Kallidus web page, depending on the type of account you have depends on which option you should select.

If you have a Guide Dogs username (which gives you access to Outlook and other internal Guide Dogs systems), select ‘log in using your Guide Dogs account and enter your username in the format xxxu001@guidedogs.org.uk or just xxxu001 (but your own user ID).

If your username is your personal email, on the next page select the ‘log in using password’ option and this will prompt you to enter your email and password to get logged in.
Please double check the credentials you are using. Passwords are case sensitive so make sure you don’t have caps lock on by mistake, you can use the 'show passwords' feature to ensure you haven't mis-typed your password.

You can also select the ‘forgotten your password’ link, on the log in page, to reset your password yourself. If you are unable to resolve the issue yourself, please contact the LMS Volunteer Administrators
You can reset your password by selecting the ‘forgotten your password’ link, on the log in page, to reset your password yourself. You will be directed to enter your username (which is your email). A link will then be sent to your email which you will need to select to create a new password.

Make sure when you reset your password, your new password contains at least 8 characters, 1 upper case letter, 1 lower case letter, a number and a special character eg. ?/\!#.

You will then need to navigate back to the log in page: https://guidedogs.kallidus-suite.com/ to log in.
If you think you should have a Kallidus account and haven’t yet received a welcome email, please double check your junk/trash/spam/clutter folders for it. The email will be from Learning.Gateway@guidedogs.org.uk and will be titled 'Guide Dogs: Kallidus welcome email'. We advise that you add Learning.Gateway@guidedogs.org.uk to your safe sender list to avoid other notification emails going to your junk folder in the future. You can do this by adding them as a contact in your email account.

If you have checked your junk/trash/spam/clutter folders and still can’t find the welcome email, please contact the LMS Volunteer Administrators and they can send you a copy of the welcome email.
To stop emails going to junk/trash/spam you will need to add the Learning.Gateway@guidedogs.org.uk email address to your safe sender list. The easiest way to do this is to add them as a contact in your email account. If you have an email from the account, select the email address and choose to add the contact.

If you do not yet have an email from Learning.Gateway@guidedogs.org.uk, then you can go to your email menu, choose contacts and add a new contact with the Learning.Gateway@guidedogs.org.uk as the email address.
If you log out of Kallidus or your session times out, to get back into the system you will need to navigate back through the to the log in page and select the appropriate log in option depending on they type of account you have. From the log out page, select ‘log in’ then:

There are two ways to log into Kallidus, and the option you should choose, depends on the type of username your account has been set up with. By selecting this link to the Kallidus log in page you will be presented with two options

If you have a Guide Dogs username (which gives you access to Outlook and other internal Guide Dogs systems), select ‘log in using your Guide Dogs account' and enter your username in the format xxxu001@guidedogs.org.uk or just xxxu001 (but your own user ID) alongside the password you have used to log into the other guide dogs areas.

If your username is your personal email, on the next page select the ‘log in using password’ option and this will prompt you to enter your email and password to get logged in.

If you end up on the wrong log in page, you can use the ‘back’ option in your browser window (Keystroke Alt and the left arrow), a bookmark or this link to take you back to the Kallidus log in page.
A bookmark is a place holder for a web page that will allow you quick access to that page, instead of having to browse for it or type it in. A visual demonstration on how to create a bookmark can be found within the videos above.

The steps to create a bookmark of Kallidus on any browser are:

Navigate to the Kallidus website

Within your browser, go to the menu or options area (normally found in the top right or left hand side of a browser window) and find the 'bookmark this tab', 'add to bookmarks', ‘add to favourites’ or similar option

If you can edit the bookmark name at this stage, choose to name it 'Guide Dogs Kallidus' or similar so that you can find it easily in the future

Save your bookmark

Tip: to add the bookmark so you can see it in your browser at all times, select to add the bookmark to your bookmarks bar.
If you have been assigned a course with a deadline, please ensure you prioritise completing the learning to ensure you are compliant and able to progress in your role.

The timings that sit alongside courses and lessons in Kallidus are an estimate of how long it might take you to complete said course or lesson – just so you know approximately how much time to set aside for the learning, however you should take the time you need to gain the knowledge and understanding with each piece of learning.
A course deadline is set on certain compliance courses (for example data protection or safeguarding) to ensure you undertake training within a relevant timeframe so that you can proceed in being active in your role as soon as possible. If you do not complete a course with a deadline by the date specified, it may affect your ability to act in your role.

If you have been assigned a course with a deadline, please ensure you prioritise completing the learning to ensure you are compliant and able to progress in your role.
To try and resolve this issue please see the following suggestions:

Rotate your device to landscape and see if you can find a 'submit' or 'tick' button that will enable you to move onto the next page

Close and re-open the learning to see if the issue resolves itself

Switch browsers, for example, if you're using Google Chrome, switch to Microsoft Edge or Safari and try to access to the lesson through a different browser

If none of the above options resolve the problem, please contact the LMS Volunteer Administrators and they can support you further.
If you currently don't have access to Kallidus and you think you should, please talk to your volunteer manager or contact the LMS Volunteer Administrators and they will investigate this further.

Within the Puppy focused roles (Puppy Raisers and Puppy Fosterers), currently, only 1 account is given per household as directed by their volunteer manager. We ask that that individual, completes the learning and shares knowledge with the rest of the household.
