Despite the devastating impact of Covid-19, this year we’ve continued to make wishes come true with our life-changing partnerships and support network. We’ve given the gift of independence, freedom and companionship to thousands of children, adults and families. This incredible support from the public helps us make these amazing wishes a reality every day.
On Saturday 12 December, we were delighted to virtually host over 1,700 supporters for our 2020 Christmas Wishes Event. Together we celebrated all the incredible wishes you’ve helped come true this year for people with sight loss, as well as their friends and families.
Hosted by Adrian Chiles, we brought an action-packed evening of yuletide cheer straight to your living room, with highlights including:
Celebrity appearances from Aled Jones, Alan Titchmarsh and Nicki Chapman
Incredible musical performances from Alexandra Burke, Classical Reflection and Jonathan Antoine
A festive feast of Christmas Carols and music from the VIP Choir of St Thomas' Hospital, Black Voices, Lasso the Moon and pianist John Garrett
Plus, an evening of inspiring stories, as well as amazing prizes won in our live auction and much more!
Thank you from Guide Dogs
We’d like to say a special thank you to all our amazing performers, guests and speakers from the night, our dedicated staff for getting involved and supporting the event, as well as to our partners and support network, who without which our vital work would not be possible. Your support of the Guide Dogs’ Christmas Wishes Virtual Event has raised an incredible £62,000!
Every ticket purchased and donation made helps us to make even more wishes come true in the coming year. If you missed the event but would like to support Guide Dogs, by donating just £5 or more today, you can help change the lives of children and adults living with sight loss in the UK.
How your donation could make a difference
£3 could pay for a microchip for one of our new guide dog puppies
£8 could support a working guide dog partnership for a day
£16 could buy a coat for one of our puppies in training
£25 could pay for an hour's training for a guide dog
£50 could buy a Puppy Raising kit for the volunteers who look after our puppies during their first year
We hope to see you next Christmas! You can still donate to Guide Dogs and continue to make even more wishes come true in 2021.
Guide Dogs is advising the public to think twice before buying expensive e-scooters as festive gifts this Christmas.
