New research found four in five parents see becoming an empty nester as a brand new chapter to be embraced and Guide Dogs wants to highlight its diverse volunteer roles for those looking for a new challenge.

We’ve got a fantastic range of jobs - over 400 roles - at Guide Dogs. So this week, asking the Dog Demonstration Team all about their exciting role and how they can help people with sight loss.

This summer, Guide Dogs has been working with the television production company Darlow Smith Productions on a brand-new series called 'Puppy School for Guide Dogs'.

Being a Sighted Guide for Guide Dogs means helping someone with sight loss get out and about in their local community. It means increasing someone’s confidence, independence and freedom to enjoy more of what they love. And in some cases, being a Sighted Guide means changing someone’s life and making their dreams come true.

Is braille still relevant in 2023? For Siobhan, Marie and Mel it shaped their love for reading, helped them learn new skills and remains a constant in their lives.

German shepherds are intelligent, adaptable, loyal and loving, and they work as guide dogs across the UK. And yet, more than a quarter of the public (27%) think they are an aggressive dog breed, despite most never having a negative experience with one.

Guide Dogs are delighted to confirm that after a rigorous external assessment, we have successfully completed the accreditation as set by the International Guide Dogs Federation (IGDF).

Our range of volunteering opportunities not only help people with sight loss in a variety of ways but with so many roles to choose from, and the flexibility to try something different – there’s always a new challenge, fun to be had, and of course, people to meet.
