Family events

Our family days out are a great way for your family to relax, have fun together and meet other families with a child with sight loss. They also allow children with a vision impairment to build confidence and make lifelong friends.

If you would prefer to watch the video without an audio description, there is a non-described version here rather than the accessible one above.

We host events all year round, such as summer and Christmas parties, at a variety of exciting venues including:

  • Audio-described theatres
  • Zoos and animal parks
  • Theme parks
  • Sensory playgrounds

With members from our children and young people’s team at every event, you’ll also be able to ask questions and find out more about the other services we offer.

New events are added all the time, so check here regularly to discover the best days out with the kids.

The events give me the chance to talk to other parents and to build that network of support. I’ve also been able to meet adults with sight loss, including members of staff, and hear about their lives. To see their positive outlook really helps.

If you are interested in attending any, please email the Family Events Team to let them know which event you would like to attend; along with the number of spaces your family will need. Children with a vision impairment (plus one parent or guardian) go free, with a suggested contribution for other family members.
