Join 60,000 other runners in the world's biggest half marathon. Starting in Newcastle you'll cross the Tyne Bride in Gateshead, run parallel with the River Tyne, past the Guide Dogs cheer bus and finish up with a view of the North Sea in South Shields.

Darren completed the 2022 Great North Run with his brother as his guide runner. Darren said:

From the moment you join #TeamGuideDogs we’ll be here to support you every step of the way. We'll be your one-stop shop for all the information you need in the run-up to race day, we'll send hints and tips to help support you with your fundraising, and of course, be your biggest cheerers on race day itself!

Once you’re all signed up to the Great North Run, it’s time to get thinking about that all important fundraising. Reaching your £350 target doesn’t need to feel overwhelming, and we’re always on hand with lots of tips and resources to help kick start donations.
Your Guide Dogs technical running top will be sent out in the post four months prior to race day. Please note this will only be sent to charity runners who have raised £100 and are actively fundraising towards their target. All own place ballot runners will receive their top four months prior too.

Yes absolutely! If you prefer to run with a guide runner, they will be given free race entry. Get in touch to discuss your requirements in more detail.
You will be allocated a time slot to start by the race organisers based on your predicted finishing time. But the general programme of events is:

If you’re interested in running wearing one of our ‘Hero the Guide Dog’ mascot suits, let us know within your registration form, under section three ‘Registration information’.
Absolutely! Will we be there cheering you along the route, look out for us around mile 6. And of course, don't forget to come and say hello at the charity village once you have completed your run, for a massage, some refreshments and a cuddle with our special dogs.
