Morrisons Johnstone

Employees at Morrisons, including the team at the Johnstone store, were inspired to get involved in fundraising for Guide Dogs after meeting a trained volunteer speaker and guide dog owner, Laura, and guide dog Autumn.

Inspiring staff to fundraise in support of people with sight loss

Morrisons invited one of Guide Dog's specially trained volunteer speakers out to their regional managers' meeting. Local guide dog owner Laura and her dog Autumn attended the meeting and chatted to staff members about her own personal experience of sight loss and the difference her guide dog Autumn has made to her life. Staff also had the opportunity to ask questions and to learn about the different ways in which their team could get involved to support Guide Dogs.

As a result, many stores kindly decided to fundraise for Guide Dogs, including Morrisons Johnstone, whose staff have been fundraising towards 'Name a Puppy'. Staff at Morrisons Johnstone have all gotten behind the fundraising, holding bucket collections and events in store, as well as collecting money through their life-size collection dog. Their continued support has seen staff choose names for two guide dog puppies; Mojo and Hope, and they are currently fundraising to name a third!

We started fundraising for Guide Dogs after a local volunteer speaker came out and spoke about how her guide dog has made a huge difference in her life. Our store decided to take part in 'Name a Puppy' and Hope is the second puppy we have raised funds to name. When we heard we had reached our fundraising target during the pandemic, we decided on the name Hope as it seemed fitting for us, looking forward to the future and the end of the pandemic. Whichever role puppy Hope ends up in we hope she will give someone hope of a brighter future!
