Giving for free
Every hour, someone in the UK will begin to lose their sight. We're here to support people through a wide range of services for adults, young people and children at any stage in life.
We work with some fantastic partners who are committed to helping you make a real difference to the lives of people with sight loss, through everyday activities, such as shopping, at no extra cost to yourself. Every little bit adds up.
Thanks to people shopping with their VIP Loyalty card at Pets at Home, for example, we've been able to buy toys and equipment for our buddy dog 'experience sessions'.
Pets at Home 'Lifelines' bring buddy dog experience sessions to life
An experience session is one of the first steps for families who are hoping to get a buddy dog for their child with a vision impairment. It's a fun and interactive session for the whole family - they meet a life-sized toy dog called 'Stuffy the dog', and they learn about the 'Five Happy Dog Rules' that help a child and dog form a strong, safe relationship. They get to touch and feel various grooming items and toys, which customers of Pets at Home have helped us to buy using VIP Club Lifeline vouchers. Each family is then introduced to some of our buddy dogs with time to interact and play. This helps build a child's confidence and put into practice what they've learned - ready for when they get their very own buddy dog.
