Fundraising ideas and inspiration
Want to get involved in fundraising for Guide Dogs but are stuck on ideas of what to do? We've got lots of great suggestions to inspire you.
Virtual Fundraising Ideas
Thank you for choosing to fundraise for us! Your support is needed now more than ever as we remain committed to supporting people with sight loss. During these challenging times, it's never been more important to come together online and support one another.
Need some virtual fundraising inspiration? We have lots of easy ideas to keep you entertained and in touch with family, friends and colleagues from the safety of your home.
Donate your Celebration
Do you have a birthday or special occasion coming up? If you can’t go out and celebrate your special day in the same way as normal, it doesn’t mean you can’t make it extra special for someone with sight loss. Set up a fundraiser on Facebook and ask your friends and family to donate to Guide Dogs in lieu of gifts. Be sure to also plan a video call on the day with your loved ones for a virtual party you’ll never forget!
Have you been enjoying all the amazing virtual quizzes taking place? Yes? Then host a fun filled night of trivia from the safety of your sofa. We’ve done all the hard work and created 5 rounds of questions to get your started. All you need to do is pick a time to video chat with friends, family or colleagues and get everyone to make a donation to take part, maybe the cost of their favourite drink or takeaway?
Keepy Uppy Challenge
Inspired by some talented footballers our Keepy Uppy Challenge is easy to organise and could involve a football, tennis ball, basketball – even a golf ball! Using your body or a bat, golf club etc. All you have to do is try to keep your ball in the air for 30 seconds, a minute – you decide! Why not challenge your friends or family to join in the fun? Get them to sponsor you via Just Giving and you can even share video clips of your challenge on TikTok or in your Whatsapp Groups.
Great Guide Dogs Tea Party
Home-baked or bought, virtual or socially distanced – do it your way and use your Great Guide Dogs Tea Party to connect over your favourite brew – and cake of course! Whether it’s a Baking Challenge - who can bake the best Bakewell tart, or a fancy-dress tea to celebrate a special occasion, ask your guests to donate the cost of their cuppa and treats and help people with sight loss while having a great time. Complete our form to get your free tea party resources.
Guide Dogs Virtual Collection
As we continue to keep our staff and volunteers safe and follow government guidelines, we are unable to carry out thousands of collections planned which could equated to £870,000 in 2020. You can still help make a difference though by hosting a Guide Dogs Virtual Collection. Share your collection and ask friends, family and colleagues to make a donate in lieu of loose change they would have slotted into the head of our iconic dog collection boxes in the local shop or dropped into the buckets held by our volunteers’ and their dogs in your local town centre. Start your own virtual collection.
Gaming for Good
Computer games can do good! If you or someone you know plays a lot of FIFA, Minecraft or another game, why not have a look at Tiltify to see how they can turn all that gaming into life-changing money for Guide Dogs. Take on a sponsored gaming marathon or host a tournament. Invite other gamers to take part for a donation and offer a prize for the top gamer. Don’t forget to livestream your gaming to spread the word of your fundraising.
Every penny counts
We appreciate that times are difficult at the moment, but for people with sight loss, social isolation can be their everyday. Any money raised through virtual fundraising will help them feel less alone, now and in the future.
