Virtual Fundraising Ideas

Thank you for choosing to fundraise for us! We really appreciate your support throughout this unprecedented time as we remain committed to supporting people with sight loss. As many of us face challenges of self-isolating at home, it's never been more important to come together online and support one another.

Need some virtual fundraising inspiration? We have lots of easy ideas to keep you entertained and in touch with family, friends and colleagues from the safety of your home.

Complete our form to receive your free downloadable resources and help from our team.

As well as the useful resources in our pack, here are some great virtual fundraising ideas to get you inspired:

Make your birthday celebrations a day to remember. You may not be able to enjoy your special day in the same way as normal, but you can still make it extra special for someone with sight loss. Donate your birthday to Guide Dogs by asking your friends and family for donations instead of buying you a gift this year. Don’t forget to plan your birthday bash, call all your friends and family to join you online to have a virtual party you’ll never forget!

  • Pub Quiz

Are you a king or queen of quizzes? Yes? Then host a fun filled night of trivia from the safety of your sofa. We’ve done all the hard work and created 5 rounds of questions to get your started. All you need to do is pick a time to video chat with friends, family or colleagues and get everyone to make a donation to take part, maybe the cost of their favourite drink at the pub?

  • Blindfold Challenge

Take part in a blindfold challenge for 1 hour, 12 hours or 24 hours. Not only is this a great way to raise money for Guide Dogs, but it can also give you an understanding of some of the challenges face by people living with sight loss. Simply set up a fundraising page online for everyone to pay their sponsorship into.

  • Dress Up Day

It’s time to get out of your PJs and make those team video calls a bit more exciting. Ask your boss whether you can have a dress up day – perhaps on a Friday? Participants can donate a suggested donation of £2 and you could even have a prize for the best fancy-dress? We couldn’t think of a more fun way to break up a boring week working at home than seeing your boss pop up on your screen in full costume.

  • Great Guide Dogs Tea Party

Get together this summer and celebrate all things tea by joining the Great Guide Dogs Tea Party. As a nation of tea lovers, there couldn’t be a better time to stay in touch over your favourite brew. Whether you're planning a garden get-together or a virtual event, ask your guests to donate the cost of their cuppa and treats and help people with sight loss while having a great time. Complete our form to download your free tea party resources.

  • Guide Dogs Virtual Collection

As we continue to keep our staff and volunteers safe and follow government guidelines, we are unable to carry out thousands of collections planned which could equated to £870,000 in 2020. You can still help make a difference though by hosting a Guide Dogs Virtual Collection. Share your collection and ask friends, family and colleagues to make a donate in lieu of loose change they would have slotted into the head of our iconic dog collection boxes in the local shop or dropped into the buckets held by our volunteers’ and their dogs in your local town centre. Start your own virtual collection.

Every penny counts

We appreciate that times are difficult at the moment, but for people with sight loss, social isolation can be their everyday. Any money raised through virtual fundraising will help them feel less alone, now and in the future.
