We sometimes have Training Dog Fosterer opportunities in Dumfries and Galloway, where dogs would stay with the fosterer through the day and at weekends, being collected by a Guide Dogs staff member (Guide Dogs Mobility Specialist) who will carry out training with the dog, before returning it back to the fosterers’ home. There may at times be opportunities for ‘weekend only’ fosterers, where the dog will stay with the fosterer Thursday evenings – Monday mornings, or Friday – Tuesday. Dumfries and Galloway fosterers do not need to drop their dog at one of our sites.

The team will consider the complexity of your journey, especially if you need to change routes or use different transport links to get from your home to the guide dogs office.

Site specific details for the dog's training: At the Redbridge site, in addition to the standard Training Dog Fosterer role, we also have Weekend Dog Fostering volunteering open. For this role, we kindly ask volunteers to collect their dog in training on Friday and drop them off on the Monday. Additionally, some surrounding areas, a bit further away from this site, we offer Community Working Fostering. For this volunteering role, a Guide Dogs staff member will collect the dog from the volunteer fosterers' home and drop them back after training. We sometimes have Advanced Training Dog Fosterer opportunities in Ammanford, Bridgend, and Pontypridd where dogs would stay with the fosterer through the day and at weekends, being collected by a Guide Dogs staff member (Guide Dogs Mobility Specialist) who will carry out training with the dog, before returning it back to the fosterers’ home.

Pick-up times: 3pm - 5.45pm
