The Guide Dogs Run

Looking for a great day out with a twist? Join us at The Guide Dogs Run and enjoy a fun run with a difference – everyone dresses as a dog!

You can tackle the course however suits you, whether you want to run, jog or stroll. Take part with your friends, family, and four-legged friends and together we can raise vital funds for Guide Dogs.

Where is the Guide Dogs Run?

Taking place at three locations across the UK, or do your own at home, join us to raise money for people living with sight loss.

Address: Glasgow Green, Greendyke Street, Glasgow, G1 5DB

Time: 10am – 2pm

Event hub location: The Event Hub is located just off Templeton Street, near the kids play area. (This is the location if you use what3words.)

Getting there: There is limited parking available around Glasgow Green, where possible we advise you travel via public transport. Please visit cityparkingglasgow.co.uk to find further parking information. The nearest main line stations are Queen Street and Central Station. The nearest train stations are Argyle Street, High Street and Belgrove. The nearest Underground Stations are St Enoch and Bridge Street.

The route: The route is relatively flat and offers participants the opportunity to take in some of Glasgow’s beautiful architecture whilst soaking up the amazing atmosphere.

Details: Don't live near one of our event locations? You can still get involved by signing up to our virtual run, and taking part at a time and place of your choice. Whether you do it alone, or gather your pack, we'll send you each a dog outfit to wear, and you can share the fun on our Guide Dogs Run Facebook page.

Event hub location: Roundhay Park, Mansion Lane, Below the Upper Lakeside Bandstand. (This is the location if you use what3words.)

Getting there: There is limited parking available within and around Roundhay Park, where possible we advise you travel via public transport. Take a look here to plan your route and here for local parking information.

The route: The route takes in the lovely sights of Roundhay Park, circling around the lake and is on a combination of pavement and gravel pathways. Please note some areas of the route are next to open water.

Address: Hylands Park, Greenbury Way, Chelmsford, CM2 8FS

Time: 10am – 2pm

Event hub location: The Event Hub is located on the large grass area located just in front of The Adventure Playground. Simply follow the pathway around the car park.

Getting there: We recommend using public transport or car sharing where possible. The nearest station is Chelmsford which is about a 50-minute walk to Hylands Parks. Car parking is available at the venue for £5 per vehicle, please bring cash where possible. Please use the main drive into the park from Greenbury Way to enter the event parking area on the left-hand side of the drive. Stewards will guide you in and out of the venue.

The route: The course is fully contained within the beautiful grounds of Hylands Park, on grass with some some slight inclines and undulating areas.

Murray’s Guide Dogs Run story

Murray took part in the 2023 Guide Dogs Run in Glasgow, running with his father Stewart as his guide. Not only did Murray and Stewart cross the finish line first, but they were also our top fundraisers!

Murray started losing his sight about four years ago at the age of 9 as a result of optic atrophy, where the coating round the optic nerve dies off. This progressed for the next two years to the point where he now has no light perception in either eye. He has adapted amazingly well and challenges himself every day. He loves to keep fit and participates in judo three times a week at both his club and judo Scotland as well as being part of the GB Para Potential Team, travelling across country and Europe to train and compete.

Guide Dogs has given Murray support over the last couple of years with mobility and habilitation training in the local area, helping him be confident enough to independently travel on the bus to neighbouring towns. He also benefited from a technology grant which provided him with an Ipad.

Guide Dogs are great, they really helped me improve my independence. It was good to give something back by doing the Guide Dog Run. I really enjoyed the run and the guide dog demonstration was really interesting.
