EasyReader app

EasyReader is a free app, available in the App Store on Apple and Android devices, that gives you access to the world's largest collection of talking book and newspaper libraries on your Apple iPad or iPhone, or Android device.

EasyReader has a variety of accessibility options, with preferred text colours, sizes and highlights, as well as being compatible with Apple VoiceOver, Android Talkback and eBraille. So you can have an enjoyable reading experience that suits you.

A really good, easy to use service, especially for free! I really enjoy listening to my favourite books in comfort, with a nice brew!

RNIB Reading Services

The RNIB’s Reading Services Library has a growing collection of over 30,000 digital books for you to browse, download and enjoy listening to, and you can use EasyReader to access it.

How to register and sign in to the RNIB’s Reading Services in EasyReader

  1. Register to the RNIB’s Reading Services via the register link on the Reading Services website 
  2. Click the activation link in the email you received from the RNIB to activate your account.  
  3. Download the app for your smart device: 
    Android
    iOS 
  4. Open EasyReader on your smart device. 
  5. Go through or skip introduction to EasyReader.
  6. Login to EasyReader with your Gmail account or Dolphin account. 
  7. Select the ‘Side Menu’ button in top left corner and then select RNIB’s Reading Services from the list. 
  8. Login to RNIB’s Reading Services Library by entering the user name and password you created. 

How to download and listen to a book 

  1. Open EasyReader on your smart device.
  2. Select ‘Side Menu’ button in top left corner and then select RNIB’s Reading Services from the list. 
  3. Search for books by using the search function, or browsing for them in the categories.
  4. When you have found a book you like, select it and go to book information and then select the download button.
  5. When your download completes, select open.
  6. Play your book by selecting play.

Useful tips

  • The first time you use EasyReader to access the RNIB’s Reading Services, you will need to first login to your Dolphin account (which you can use Gmail for if you have a Gmail account) and then login into the RNIB’s Reading Services Library. 
  • You can customise the Libraries in your Side Menu, to do this go to ‘Side Menu’ and ‘Manage Libraries’ and toggle off the services you do not need. 
  • If you subscribe to RNIB’s News Agent you can access content through EasyReader too, through the option in the Side menu.
  • Add bookmarks to your books and use the Book navigation function to browse them. 
  • Use My Clipboard Texts in the Side menu to play any text that you have copied.
